About Us

 

The Australian Motorcycling Competition Association (AMCA) was formed in response to a growing need for a more cohesive, professionally managed, and forward-thinking body to oversee and promote motorcycling competitions across Australia.

As the sport evolved, stakeholders across various disciplines recognised the need for a national organisation that could unify the community, provide advocacy for riders and clubs, improve competition structures, and elevate the overall standard of events.

Formation Background:

The formation of the AMCA was driven by several key factors:

  1. Fragmentation Across States: Motorcycling competitions are often managed independently by state-level bodies or smaller organisations, leading to inconsistencies in rules, safety protocols, and event quality.

  2. Need for Improved Standards: As Australian riders gain international recognition, there is a push to bring domestic competition standards in line with global benchmarks.

  3. Risk and Regulation: Improved policies and procedures that provide better protection for clubs, better rider development programs, and simplified governance.

  4. Improved Environment and Growth Opportunities: Providing opportunities for clubs to earn an income from each event they run, giving back to the sport and the clubs.

Role of the Steering Committee:

To ensure the organisation had strong leadership from the outset, a steering committee of six highly experienced professionals was appointed. This committee was tasked with shaping the AMCA’s vision, policies, and operational structure.

Why six professionals?

Each of the six members was selected for their deep expertise and complementary backgrounds in the motorcycling industry and broader sporting landscape. Their collective experience spans:

  • Amateur & Professional competition (Each committee member races or rides recreationally)

  • Administration (including experience in sporting bodies)

  • Event management (organising large-scale motorsport events)

  • Technical regulation and safety standards

  • Sponsorship and commercial strategy

  • Legal and governance frameworks

This multidisciplinary approach ensures that AMCA is guided by a well-rounded leadership team that understands both the passion of the sport and the complexities of running a national governing body.
